Don't Burn the Water!

Welcome to Stop Wasting Thyme’s new cooking series- Don’t Burn the Water!   And guess what? I’m Your Home Cook- literally.  Either you're coming to me or I’m going to your house to help you cook up something delicious.  I know you're busy and time is hard to come by, but all you need are the basics and you can go wondrous places.  When time is against you, but you're hungry and tired of takeout, wouldn't it be nice to whip up a flatbread pizza with homemade sauce topped with sausage, veggies, cheese, or anything in between? Or some stuffed peppers?  And what about breakfast?  Banana bread doesn't take that long to bake.  Who doesn't love pancakes or a refreshing yogurt tart.  Did you know you can make your own ricotta cheese with only 4 ingredients?

What are you waiting for... Book a Class!

Meal Planning

I know how easy it is to grab the phone and order dinner, but what if you took a minute to think about what you want to eat?  What if I helped you create 3 meals that will play off each other?  I really LOVE tacos, so my meal plan could be shrimp tacos with mango salsa on Monday.  Pizza with sautéed veggies and sausage on Tuesday.  And stuffed peppers with shrimp, sausage, veggies and rice on Wednesday.  I'd only have to go to the market once and give myself an hour to prep for the week.

Meal Prep

Once you've decided what you want to eat- it's time to get it all ready.

If you've committed to cooking your meals, you must commit to prepping your food.  That means going to the grocery and buying what you need.  Then chopping onions, tomatoes, peppers, meat...   All those things take time and in order to minimize your time in the kitchen during the week, you must put aside an hour or two to prep for the week.

My rule is simple- if you buy it, you prep it.

Cooking Lessons

It's finally time to pull it all together.  You know what you're eating.  You've chopped it up in advance.  Now all you have to do is give yourself some time to cook, bake, or sauté your way to a delicious meal.

There's no need for elaborate cookware or a 27 piece knife block- a few basic kitchen items and you can cook your way to glory; you can do it and I can help!
